Aument Takes Oath of Office as State Senator

HARRISBURG – Senator Ryan P. Aument (R-36) was sworn in today to begin his first term serving northern Lancaster County residents in the Pennsylvania Senate. The Senate of Pennsylvania is now fully constituted and is ready to conduct business in the 2015-2016 Legislative Session.

“I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to represent the 36th Senatorial District’s local communities in Harrisburg, and I look forward to sharing in many constructive conversations with residents to learn more about our collective priorities,” Aument said. “Given the rising state obligations heading into the 2015-2016 State Budget, I believe it is critical to focus on fiscally responsible policy and promote the accountability of state government.  We will face significant challenges in improving the state’s job climate, reforming public pension systems and ensuring a fairer approach to school funding. I look forward to addressing all these issues in a way that makes sense for Lancaster County.”

“My hope is that the Senate can focus on issues that can address the lost economic opportunities for people, whether that be unemployment, underemployment or high levels of student debt,” Aument said.  “State government must begin to enact policies that focus on the ability and opportunity for people to economically prosper which is central to the American dream. Every Pennsylvanian should have a chance to succeed. Economic mobility is conditional on a high quality education system and a competitive business climate. I hope to be able to lead Pennsylvania in this direction.”

Senator Aument has fully staffed offices in Harrisburg and the district as well as a website designed specifically for constituent service and legislative inquiries. The district office is open Monday through Friday from 9:00am-4:30pm or by appointment and can be reached by phone at (717) 627-0036. The office is located at 301 E. Main St, Lititz, PA 17543. The Harrisburg office can be reached by phone at (717) 787-4420 or by mail at Senate Box 203036, Harrisburg, PA 17120.

Prior to his election to the Senate of Pennsylvania in November, Senator Aument served two terms in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. As a member of the House, he helped to create a new comprehensive teacher evaluation system and was a staunch supporter of measures to improve government transparency, accountability and reform.
