Aument to Lead New Panel to Support Afterschool Programs

HARRISBURG – Senator Ryan P. Aument (R-36) joined education and youth development advocates today to announce the formation of a new bipartisan, bicameral caucus to support afterschool programs.

Aument will serve as co-chair of the Afterschool Caucus along with Senator John Yudichak (D-14), Representative Mindy Fee (R-37) and Representative Jake Wheatley (D-39). The panel will study and support the development of afterschool programs and update state legislators on pertinent issues relating to Pennsylvania’s afterschool infrastructure.

“Afterschool programs have made a real and meaningful difference in the lives of students,” Aument said. “These programs have yielded tremendous results in terms of improved educational outcomes. I look forward to working with my colleagues to support and expand learning and development opportunities for young people through this new caucus.”

Aument was joined at today’s announcement by nearly 200 advocates, including students, parents, educators, program providers, community leaders, policy makers, business and faith-based leaders and others from across Pennsylvania.
